From October 2017, the NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) will start undertaking a new post-payment verification of payments to community pharmacy contractors for provision of the Medicines Use Review (MUR) service. The NHSBSA and contractors will request evidence from a sample of contractors to support
payment claims they have submitted for MURs over a specified period using the end of the month process.
To help you with this Pharma Plus has created a folder cover, folder spine and “MUR, NMS and FLU consent form and claims tracker" where you can log your figures on month by month basis.
We expect around eight members to be picked out each month making tracking consent forms essential. Using this tracker can help to increase payment accuracy
in claiming too.
- What do you need to do now and what is our take on what is happening?
- Ensure all records are watertight and available for submission use the Pharma Plus tracker to keep on top of your numbers
- File the consent forms on a month by month basis just in case you get picked
- Ensure that the number of consent forms matches up with what you are claiming
- We think that It is likely that the process will be random but may also involve picking
pharmacies who have submitted high numbers in one month
- Remember that this is for the Medicines Use Review service only. It is likely that this process, if successful, will be rolled out to other services as well in the future.
