Whistleblowing Policy - Final Reminder

Whistleblowing Policy Update
Read below and action if you have not done so as soon as possible ...
Whistleblowing involves raising concerns about a variety of things. For example poor clinical practice, maladministration of medicines etc.

The NHS terms of service require each pharmacy to have a written policy. Click here for more detailed information.

Pharmacies are also required to review their policies by the end of September 2017 to meet new requirements.

The newest addition to the requirements is the need to nominate a 'Freedom to Speak Up Guardian'. Ideally, this person is independent of the organisation. A possible suggestion by PSNC is that of an appointed officer of your LPC. However, there may be a conflict of interest in this idea and if you are not happy with this, an alternative is a local authority, e.g. NHS England as the guardian needs to be both independent and impartial. Contact your LPC for further information.

As always, give us a ring at the office if you require any further advice.
