From October 2017, the NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) will start undertaking a new post-payment verification of payments to community pharmacy contractors for provision of the Medicines Use Review (MUR) service. The NHSBSA and contractors will request evidence from a sample of
contractors to support payment claims they have submitted for MURs over a specified period using the end of the month process.
What do you need to do now and what is our take on what is happening?
- Ensure all records are watertight and available for submission
- File the consent forms on a month by month basis just in case you get picked
- We think that It is likely that the process will be random but may
also involve picking pharmacies who have submitted high numbers in one month
- Ensure that the number of consent forms matches up with what you are claiming
Remember that this is for the Medicines Use Review service only. It is likely that this process, if successful, will be rolled out to other services as well in the future.
