Implementation of the NUMSAS Scheme
Conversion from PURMS to NUMSAS
A NOTE FROM PHARMAPLUS

This email was recently sent to contractors from LPCs. We have been given permission to forward this to all member pharmacies. For those of you who may be unaware;
  • The NUMSAS is the 'NHS Urgent Medicine Supply Advance Service'. This is a national advance service (as the name suggests) and not something just for London. It therefore affects all pharmacies. More information can be found here.
  • PURMS is the 'Pharmacy Urgent Repeat Medicines Scheme' pilot for London and some other areas of the UK.
The PURM service will soon be decommissioned. The NUMSAS service will take it's place. The email below sent to contractors recently describes the process to transfer from the PURMS to the NUMSAS.

Please read the email below and contact Anenta or your own LPC if appropriate.

EMAIL FROM LPCs

This email provides you with information regarding the pilot NHS Urgent Medicines Supply Advanced Service (NUMSAS). We would ask that you follow the instructions below to ensure a smooth transition from PURMs to NUMSAS if appropriate or to register for the NUMSAS where you have not provided PURM before.

Additionally, there is a new fast tracked process for London pharmacies to help you to get the new premises specific SHARED NHS mail accounts -- (see link in option 3 below)

Please note that Anenta Ltd are contacting most pharmacies (that are existing PURM service providers) across London to assist in the registration process and to provide some guidance where required. If you believe you have registered, Anenta can check this for you and advise accordingly.

Depending on your circumstances and what type of NHS mail account or not you have, please follow one of the options below:

Option 1.  Contact Anenta on 03301 222 143 who will assist with the registration process for you.

Option 2. You already have a “premises specific”  NHSmail account:
Should you have a “premises specific” NHSmail address e.g. “yourpharmacy@nhs.net”, please follow this link and register via the BSA.  Please note that if you register with a “personal” NHSmail account (someone's name is on it), the registration will be “deregistered” automatically.

Option 3. You do not have a “premises specific” NHSmail account:
You require a “premises specific” NHSmail and to get one follow the link below to apply for the appropriate NHSmail shared account.  You should receive confirmation of receipt within 48hrs. Where you have already applied for such a shared NHSmail account before through the national registration process, it will speed up your account being created if you apply again through this link (these are being fast tracked for London). When you have been issued with your new shared NHSmail address, you should follow this link to register as a provider for the NUMSAS service.

When you have successfully registered for NUMSAS, you will start to receive a great deal more communications before and during the launch of the service. Here is a link to the service specification for your convenience.
