Under the new CPCF there has been an extension to the New Medicines Service (NMS) to include new target groups from 1st September 2021. Click here to access the list of conditions, the NHSBSA should be releasing a full list shortly.
We recommend members achieve their target by 30th November 2021. Remember the NMS can take up to a month to complete –
you cannot leave this last minute!
This is GATEWAY criteria for the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) – if you do not achieve this you will not qualify for ANY payment under the PQS.
What you need to do: 1.Check how many NMS’ you have claimed for since 1st April 2020.
2. You MUST claim for at least 20 completed NMS’ between 1st April 2021 and 5th January 2022. 3. All pharmacists providing the service must complete the self-assessment form – Click here to download and can complete the CPPE course. 4. Speak to your local GPs about the service and encourage referrals. 5. Contractors must inform their regional NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) team of their intention to provide the service; a).Click here to download the declaration form & email this to your regional NHSE&I team. 6. Most PMR systems should flag patients who are eligible for the service & have a module for recording of NMS’ – check with your PMR supplier when the expanded list will be updated.
You should aim to enrol every patient who qualified for the service – this will help to improve adherence and increase patient loyalty to your pharmacy. You can achieve payments of up to £28 per NMS – do not miss out on this opportunity.
