During the session we went through the requirements for the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) to achieve the PCN domains (4 and 5).
It is important for you to know what your PCN Lead will be doing and how you can ensure you achieve your PQS criteria.
- Your PCN Lead will be contacting you regarding a flu plan and business continuity planning (BCP) for your PCN.
- They will ask your about your flu activity and BCP procedures – please provide them with the information they require in detail including an out of hours emergency contact number.
- Attend the meeting they invite you to where they will go through various topics including how they have engaged with the PCN Clinical Director.
- The PCN Lead has a requirement under the PQS to declare compliance / non-compliance with engagement with them through MYS.
- This declaration is linked to your PQS payments – if you are deemed non-compliant you will lose 25% of your PQS payments.
- If your PCN Lead has not contacted you yet you can reach out to them and find out when they will be holding their meeting.
For domain 4: Primary Care Network: Prevention (Flu) – For your MYS claim you will need the following information:
- A declaration that the contractor has engaged with the Pharmacy PCN Lead and agreed to be involved in increasing the uptake of flu vaccinations to patients aged 65 and over by the provision of flu vaccinations;
- The total number of eligible people aged 65 and over, including those becoming age 65 by 31st March 2021, vaccinated by the contractor between 1st September 2020 and 31st January 2021;
- The name of the PCN, appointed Pharmacy PCN Lead and pharmacy name and ODS code for the Pharmacy PCN Lead.
For domain 5: Primary Care Network: Business Continuity – For your MYS claim you will need the following information:

- The name of the PCN, appointed Pharmacy PCN Lead and pharmacy name and ODS code for the Pharmacy PCN Lead.
Due to the link to your PQS payments it is imperative you engage with your PCN Lead and provide them with all the information they require.
Please note: in order for you to achieve the primary care network prevention domain (4) you must provide and claim for at least 1 flu vaccination in patients aged 65 and over.
They may contact you via your shared NHSMail account – you should be checking at least on a daily basis.
