Independent Prescribing (IP) has been around for almost a decade now. There are a number of prescribers out there, although the uptake has been relatively slow. The government announced it's intention to support pharmacists and other allied professionals to become independent prescribers and have provided financial support to do so. Furthermore, the pandemic has shown ministers just how fragile the current NHS system is and the need to utilise the clinical skills that pharmacists have.
At our next PharmaPlus Academy Video Training session, we will explore how you can become an Independent Prescriber. You will discover that it is not just about attending a university course and getting a certificate. Many people have also described it as a humbling experience that has led to much higher respect towards other health professions.
