For those of you taking on a
provisionally registered pharmacist need to ensure you have the following in place:
- Must be employed by the pharmacy they are practicing at and have a contract of employment (Contact your HR advisors or the NPA for template contracts)
- Must complete a risk assessment BEFORE the provisionally registered pharmacist starts & to be reviewed MONTHLY
- Complete reports on the provisionally-registered pharmacist’s conduct and performance on a monthly basis and be able to provide these to the GPhC on demand
- Must practise under the guidance and direction of a senior pharmacist with at least 2 years experience
- Must not be a superintendent pharmacist but may practice as a responsible pharmacist
- The responsible pharmacist notice must indicate they are on the provisional register – Click here to

- They must have professional indemnity insurance
- Provision for study time prior to the registration assessment
