Dear
Member,
The RPS has been conducting a survey on
risk assessments for the BAME community. They launched a survey with the Black Pharmacists Association (UKBPA) to find out if organisations have started to implement risk assessments and make adaptations to working environments so pharmacists and pre-registration students can work safely during COVID-19.
As pharmacy owners you have an important
responsibility to identify and manage the risks associated with providing pharmacy services. You must review your existing risk assessments and consider what further actions you could take to protect your staff, trainees and patients. This includes identifying at risk and vulnerable people within your teams, including staff from BAME backgrounds, along with other vulnerable groups, such as those with existing health conditions. .
The survey closes today Monday 22nd June 2020.
What you should
do:
- Ensure you have completed an updated risk
assessment for your pharmacy
- Include your staff and pharmacists in the risk assessment so they can have input and are aware of the measures which have been taken
- Conduct individual risk assessments on your team members to ensure they are able to work safely during COVID-19
- Read through the Government guidance on working safely during coronavirus
- Complete the RPS
survey to indicate what adaptations have been made to ensure safe working during COVID-19
