Dear Member,
We recently sent you an email about Covid-19 antibody testing kits that we have purchased through Pharmadoctor. These are to be used for healthcare professional ONLY and not to be sold to the public or for home testing use.
It is purely from a service and cost perspective that PharmaPlus is looking to provide this service to it's members. (We placed a minimum order with PharmaDoctor for 300 testing kits costing nearly £2500 ex VAT).
If you would like to purchase these kits, we are supplying them for £100 + VAT for 10 tests which we will post to your pharmacy.
You may find these kits useful for the following:
- To ascertain antibody status.
- Know if you have contracted the virus.
- Understand its presence in the test person’s immediate community.
- Help to conduct and plan for yourselves and your pharmacy teams appropriately, whilst your pharmacy still has to remain open.
Please note:
- Test kits are NOT to be sold to the public and they are only for use by healthcare professionals.
- Testing is done via a finger prick test, all equipment needed for testing is included within the kit.
- Testing is only accurate if done 21 days after presentation of symptoms.
- Presence of antibodies DO NOT confirm immunity and government advice on social distancing and other measures MUST continue to be adhered to.
- Overall accuracy calculated at 98.6% (IgG) and 92.9% (IgM).
- Test results are known within 10 mins.
The test was developed, produced and evaluated by a reputable UK based manufacturer and does have MHRA approval.

Further clinical studies have shown the kits to be highly sensitive and specific:
Sensitivity and Specificity
To determine specificity, samples were taken from 60 patients who tested negative for COVID-19. The specificity of the IgM and IgG components are presented separately:
IgM Specificity: 96.7% (95%CI*: 88.5%-99.6%) *Confidence Interval
IgG Specificity: 98.3% (95%CI: 91.1%-99.9%)
To determine sensitivity, samples were taken from 239 patients who were confirmed positive by PCR. Samples were taken at a range of times from onset of symptoms.
