With the pandemic now in full swing, you are undoubtedly incredibly busy. We have therefore decided to limit the number of communications relating to the development of new services to allow you to focus on the urgent and essential work that you are now doing.
PharmaPlus is currently producing a pack and working documents to help you cope with what is happening in the wider world. There is no doubt that things will change and the pace will quicken over the next few weeks and months. We will be supporting you to ensure that you know what is happening and what to do. The pandemic will likely go on for many months, and even up to a year. Please
note that we are here, as usual, to support you. We have developed our contingency plans in case our staff are affected and will always maintain a level of two-way communication to assist you where necessary.
There is, however, one service that you may wish to consider when dealing with the current issues that you are experiencing in the pandemic. Health centres and, quite possibly, hospitals will likely become overburdened very quickly. Community pharmacy has a considerable job to do to support patients at this time by trying to help maintain the healthcare system and the safety of the
people we support every day.
We previously spoke about our Community Pharmacy Walk-In service. The service is there to help diagnose conditions in the pharmacy by using techniques that are typically only available in GP practices. We expect that there may be many patients over the next few months that are likely to want this type of private service. The service allows patients to pay for a private consultation and
may result in a private prescription for your pharmacy.
We fully appreciate that things may be very hectic at the moment, and this may be the last thing on your mind. However, times like this often bring about opportunities to rise out of the shadows and become beacons for others.
