As part of
our continued support for independent community pharmacy, PharmaPlus has prepared a comprehensive guidance document on the 2025/26 Foundation Training Year, which formally replaces the old pre-registration year from July 2025 onwards.
From this point forward, all community pharmacy placements must meet new GPhC and NHS England requirements, including the
provision of prescribing supervision, structured training plans, and participation in the national Oriel recruitment process.

We’ve also included a template training plan for you to adapt locally. This outlines the required activities, supervision, and prescribing elements for the year. However, please note:
The template will need to be tailored to your pharmacy’s operations and resources.
⚠️ Important: We are currently awaiting additional guidance from Buttercups regarding their role in delivering elements of the training programme. The structure and detail of the training plan may therefore need to be revised once
that information becomes available. We’ll update members as soon as we have clarity.
