These tools aren’t just nice to have — they are essential to staying viable in a sector where margins are under real pressure.

What the New Contract Really Means

The recent funding settlement introduces a £100m margin uplift and a slight increase to the dispensing fee, now at £1.46. However, this doesn’t translate into new money for most pharmacies. Once the £193m of over-margin clawback is accounted for, margins remain flat — or even lower when you factor in the expected £42m Category M cuts.

Enhanced services like Pharmacy First and Hypertension are now more important, but recent contract changes have introduced delivery barriers that could limit income. We’ll be providing practical support to help you navigate this complexity — but it’s vital to approach these services with realistic expectations.
