As you’ll be aware, there has been a great deal of speculation in the press and other sources regarding the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework for both the current (24/25) and upcoming financial year (25/26).

At PharmaPlus, we are actively monitoring all available information and speaking with our contacts to gather insights as early as possible. We understand that an announcement must be imminent and, like many of you, we’re hopeful for an uplift.

However, the broader economic environment and the government’s ongoing challenges with budgets and borrowing will inevitably make any decent increase in funding for Community Pharmacy difficult to secure.

We’ve all experienced over seven years of consistent cuts and freezes, all while the cost of doing business — wages, operational demands, and overall expenses — continues to rise. We’re very mindful of these pressures.

Once the announcement is made, The PharmaPlus team will carefully analyse the details, identify any opportunities, and share our findings with you through our usual bespoke channels. This includes personalised 1-1 support , messages via our WhatsApp groups, and— if appropriate — we’ll also organise a webinar to walk through the changes in more detail.

It’s increasingly clear that future contractual arrangements will focus more heavily on services and independent prescribing led commissioning. We strongly encourage Members to continue developing these areas, along with expanding private services, to reduce reliance on NHS income.
