Asthma and Respiratory Domain for PQS

We recommend that you focus some time on the Respiratory domain for PQS.

Training

Please see a list of the training required. This has to have been completed within the last four year (between 1 April 2020 and end of 31 March 2024).

    OR as an alternative the following is also allowed instead:    

Attended a CPPE face-to-face inhaler technique workshop and passed the Inhaler technique for health professionals e-assessment3.

What Do You Need To Do

This should be straight forward as we have done this last year.

Tally the number of patients as below:

  1.   Inhaler technique checks via NMS

  2.   Inhaler waste management advice

  3.   Use of a spacer

  4.   Patient aged 5 years and over having a PAAP in place.

  5.   Referral of patient having 3 or more short acting bronchodilator within the last 6 months.

We have attached a document for you to fill in which incorporates all elements of the data which requires capturing for your declaration.

Referrals could also be made by using Pharmoutcomes by following the guide in the link here.

Other Declarations Required

By 31^st March 2024 the total number of patient-facing pharmacy staff working at the pharmacy on the day of the declaration who have and have not been trained on the reasons why used, unwanted and expired inhalers should be returned to the pharmacy for safe disposal.
