WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO
1. All pharmacy staff to fill out audit data collection sheet titled “Patients who are of childbearing age and have been dispensed a prescription for valproate”. Over a 6-week period. This means the latest date you can start this is Friday 17th February to ensure that you have it completed by 31st March. We strongly suggest that if you start as soon as possible if you haven’t started this already as you must also take time to review the audit.
2. Check if you have packs of information (Patient Guides, Patient Cards, warning stickers, etc.) to support and inform patients of childbearing age who are biologically able to be pregnant who are taking valproate of the risks of pregnancy and the need to be enrolled in the Pregnancy Prevention
programme
3. Ensure that once the audit is complete that you have completed the “Pharmacy contractor review of the audit” document.
4. After the audit is complete, log onto your MYS portal and click on “Valproate Audit 2022/23” and enter the data from the data collection sheet onto the web-based form. Do not enter any patient identifiable information onto MYS.
5. Note that if no suitable patients are found to participate in the audit during the six-week period, the ‘No eligible patients’ box is ticked within the Valproate Audit 2022/23 tab on MYS on submission. This will create a record which will act as evidence that the audit has been completed even though no patient data has been added to MYS.
