Recently many members have contacted us regarding renewal of their PMR systems contract. The renewal usually occurs every 3 - 4 years depending on the provider unless you have a rolling contract.  It is important to note agreements are for an initial term of 3 - 4 years and then automatically move to a rolling 12 month agreement without the member doing anything.

So What's Currently Happening in the Market?

We understand that the top four PMR providers are all undergoing a transition period. This is to integrate more features into their systems beyond the current basic features, such as:

• App integration
• An increased focus on clinical services integrated within the system for booking appointments
• Making patient records available

If your current PMR contract is coming up for renewal in the near future, we recommend NOT to sign up to any 3 , 4 or 5 year contracts until PharmaPlus has had the opportunity to scrutinize all different providers offerings, which will take some time.

In the meantime, it is likely your contract simply moves into a rolling 12 month period. As a result:

• PMR providers are required to continue maintaining pharmacy hardware’s and software’s, as long as you continue to pay the monthly charges your service will continue.
• This also applies if you have purchased your PMR systems through wholesaler schemes such as those provided by AAH & Phoenix Numark.

Please also be aware that any hardware replacement may see a new 48-month contract being put in place.  Whilst we see this approach as aggressive in its intent, we will endeavour to ensure members can get the support under existing agreements.
