ACT NOW: CPCS IT System - Pharmacy Pays

Dear Member,

From Apr 21 all pharmacies will need to pick and pay for an IT provider to continue to provide NHS CPCS services.

Action needed by members now:

1. Review the guidelines below.

2. Pick a provider from the four below known providers - see the web links provided below.

3. Contact the provider and register to use that provider ongoing - see the web links provided below.

4. Do this before 28th Feb 2022, to make sure you are set up without any gaps in the service.

Providers & Key Points

1. PharmOutcomes Direct

Offers a “Pay as you go” solution for pharmacies wishing to use PharmOutcomes. There are no set up costs, no annual fees and no tie ins.
Fees are 90p per referral sent to the pharmacy and decrease when the volumes increase.
CPCS referrals sent via NHS 111 or via GP CPCS (where the GP using the integrated EmisWeb or PharmRefer systems) will be free.
All other GP CPCS referrals will be chargeable including those sent by NHS Mail.
Pinnacle also offer at a cost a USB flashing light alert device “PharmAlarm”.
Pinnacle Affinity Groups Model - PharmaPlus has decided not to be an Affinity group due to the extra cost and requirements to PharmaPlus. It did not make this worthwhile for our members. Any possible savings are limited due to the low volumes of CPCS currently. We will keep this under review should the situation change.

2. Sonar

Sonar will not charge a fee until April 23.
Ongoing fees are to be confirmed towards to the end of the 1st year.

3. Cegedim Healthcare Solutions

This service is only available to Cegedim customers, and it is unclear if it will be ready in time or if it will have availability to others at this stage.
