Today, 3rd February 2022, is the deadline to start the antibiotic review. It can take eight weeks to complete. The deadline for completion is 31st March 2022.
What you need to do:
1.AUDIT: Over 4 weeks with a minimum of 25 patients – if this is not achieved extend to 8 weeks. 2. Record your start and end date – Required for your MYS declaration. 3.Print copies of the target antibiotic checklist – complete 1 per patient prescribed an antibiotic. 4.Promoteantimicrobial stewardship during these discussions to ensure safe and effective use. 5. When to refer to a prescriber: a). Potential risk of antibiotic related adverse effects (e.g. change in allergy status) b). Concerns about the patients therapy 6. Patient referrals to a prescriber must be followed up to identify actions taken. a). Record this in the patients PMR as an intervention. 7. Enter your data onto Public Health England (PHE) portal application. This is MANDATORY.
No patient identifiable data should be entered into the PHE portal application.
