Dear Member
There have recently been several posts on PPL Discussion WhatsApp group regarding changes occurring shortly to the CPCS IT funding and procurement. CPCS IT for this service will need to be paid for by contractors as the NHS England & NHS Improvement will no longer pay for it from 1st April 2022. You will be unable to provide CPCS if a CPCS IT system is not in place. Currently, we know four will be available; Cegedim, PharmOutcomes, Positive Solutions and Sonar.
Conversations have naturally centred simply around the cost contractors will incur for the CPCS IT service provided. However, we should consider more, e.g., quality, contract type, future services capabilities, timelines, training, user interface, PMR links, entry, ongoing, and exit costs. Also, we should consider whether these costs are volume-based or a flat fee. Furthermore,
other services may need a paid-for IT provider in the future, e.g. Hypertension, DMS & NHS vaccinations, including Covid.
You should ask yourself what precisely each PMR supplier will provide. Getting this information is extremely difficult, but we will forward what we can shortly and provide you with regular weekly updates. Since we are receiving more helpful information from Emis Proscript / PharmOutcomes, we can use this information as a benchmark for the others, and this is what we are trying to put together. You should also keep an eye out for information on local funding developments from regional
NHSE&I and inform us by email of anything you hear.
We will provide a further update next week, and for now, we suggest you hold off buying any system. If a provider contacts you, please help us help you by telling them that you will decide once you have a recommendation from PharmaPlus and refer them to our office.
Many thanks
The PharmaPlus Team.
